Paradise Found
I am almost lost for words so forgive me that this is mostly piccies. This is a post about a very special place, a place I believe could be heaven on earth. Thank you to our lovely friends Katie and Michael for sharing their wedding day with us yesterday.
Come with me to Iona...
So much sea and sky...
Spectacular beaches with the purest white sand...
The locals were kinda cute...
My dream island bolthole...
The austere Iona Abbey...
..lit up by the beautiful bride and her yellow Jimmy Choo's...
Colourful bunting strung up on the village hall....
Friends in kilts and their best frocks heading for the reception...
My perfectly balanced husband - a drink in both hands...
Hat of the day!....
Shame the beach was a bit crowded this morning...

:: blink :: blink :: Is this for REAL!? Are you sure you weren't in some far away kingdom? This is what dreams are made of. =)

Yes Allison, now that I'm back home, I've come back down to earth with a very big bump! Thanks so much for your comment, I'm off to bed now to dream of beautiful white beaches.

Hi Steph, no I didn't do the hat thing but I did have a bit of a 1940's thing going on with my outfit. Think you might have inspired that! My red patent t-bar shoes were very much admired! There was so much going on I didn't even get a pic of them! ;)

We have friends whose grandparents bought one of the quarry houses on Mull overlooking Iona - they spend their summers there living off grid, and basking on those beautiful white beaches.
We used(pre-school holidays)to spend much of May on Mull/Iona in celebration of my birthday - the weather was always fabulous, the light amazing and the trips to Staffa to see the puffins ...
Seeing your photos I think that this will be a tradition to return to once school holidays no longer frame our years.

A friend of mine thought Iona such a beautiful place that she named her daughter after it.
