Ode to my boys

Perfectday

When I came home from work on Saturday I was greeted by my husband and my little boy sitting on our garden wall in the sunshine, kicking their heels without a care in the world.  They were waiting for me.  Such a small gesture but it made my day.

Flowerpot

I’ve been thinking a lot lately of how fast my little boy is growing up, how there are less and less of his funny little mis-pronunciations, those strange little words that make perfect sense to me but I have to translate for others.  Recently, he has been dropping the mummy in favour of teenage grunts of mum which has just about pushed me over the edge - I'm not ready to be a mum yet!

So I want to dedicate this post to my lovely boys who really are my sunshine.

Thank you for...

...the many impromptu cups of tea

...renting The Devil Wears Prada when I know you'd rather be watching The Bourne Identity or Scooby Doo

...pausing the film after 3 mintues to give me a run down of the plot so far

...biting your tongue when yet another flowery teacup enters the building

...knowing the right (and wrong) moment to produce a Cadbury's Twirl

...making me appreciate just how funny it is to see sheep on a roundabout

...allowing me to completely "girlify" the four corners of the spare room

and as well as being a wife and mummy, for letting me be me.  xxx

This is the sweetest, loveliest post Carol, rings so many bells with me. B tells me now that he can't write mummy anymore and mum is quicker - he's only 4!
Your husband sounds a lovely chap. Mine has produced a bunch of beautiful tulips today (very rare). Actually they're still on the dresser and he hasn't mentioned them but I'm guessing they're not for the boys!
Lucky things aren't we.
Stephx - hope my roses come up too, no dreaded greenfly as yet but I'm armed and ready!

Oh I know it. Just this week my boy, not yet 2, started calling me "mom" like his big brother. Like grey hairs, I'm not ready for that yet!

Such a sweet post, how is your new job going? Love the moo cards, I'm a big moo card virgin, I don't even have a flickr account, how behind the times am I...!!!
Hopefully see you on our opening weekend, have just posted the dates :)

A lovely post Carol. Time does fly too fast.
I have to call my daughter-in-law Mummy now...the grandson has started to copy others and call her Fran...she does not like it - he is only 20 months
Carol xx

Carol,
That is such a lovely post - it made me cry...and I'm a work so not ideal in my male dominated world. I hope you remember these perfect moments...sounds like my bro is quite the perfect hubbie...sometimes ;o) XXX

I feel the same exact way about my almost-4 year old son! How did time fly so fast?! Wasn't he just a tiny baby??? Now he doesn't say "eleph-lint" anymore and pronounces it correctly as "elephant"... :) I so identify with this post so much, and appreciate you posting it! By the way, love your blog.. my mom reads it often and i finally got around to checking it out!

Mine went from Mummy to Mother which suites me just fine.
