Sweet anticipation

Pinkhyacinth

Spring is coming...it really is, I can feel it in my bones.  I'd go as far as to say we had a warm day this week.  I imagine one day soon I'll be throwing off with gay abandon the boots I have worn to death this winter and donning my lovely squishy Clarks sandals again.  Knowing our fickle weather this could happen overnight and I don't know if this world is quite ready for my pasty, dare I say fuzzy winter legs!  Which is why I've invested in some of this...

Selftan_4

It's an organic self-tan from Green People. I think I came across a recommendation on a blog for it (sorry I read so many I don't always remember who). I never have much luck with these things, I usually have a streaking issue (referring to the product that is), and a rather potent "eau de Rich Tea biscuit" wafting from my self.  I have a wedding coming up next month (on the Isle of Iona, can't wait!) and just want to have a bit of a healthy glow.  I shall be testing it out very soon and will post results (I will spare you the photographs ;o)  Any tips/recommendations would be gratefully received!

I've had a good week, meeting up with friends, getting myself a part-time job (argh!) and of course some charity shopping (I really can't help myself)...

Pillowcases_2

Saw these pillowcases and thought I'll have those - very Cath don't you think?

My new book for the week is Cath Kidston in Print which I snapped up from TK Maxx.  How sweet is this caravan...

Caravan

Excuse the horrible flash photography). She (Cath) uses a particular vivid orange flower power 70's print to make a doorstop with and it's identical to the seat covers my Dad used to have in his old yellow Ford Escort...

Carseats

They were hideous!!  Shame on you Cath.  Or shame on Dad, for throwing them away.  Cath could've had them.

Reading

FINALLY, I got hold of a copy of the April Country Living.  I mean it's been out for, like, ages.  At least 2 hours.  I think I was beginning to irritate the people in our little newsagents as I kept popping my head round the door, having a quick scan of the rack and then darting out again.  I will have to renew my subscription because the anticipation of not knowing when it will hit the shelves is just too much.  That said, I was a little disappointed for the first time ever with the content this month.  It just seemed a little thin on the usual mouth watering eye candy and a little fat with advertisements.  The Poultry Pinups was hilarious though!

I was full of good intentions this week to have a bit of a spring clean and as I started ploughing my way through the chaos of the play room I thought what a lovely world of colour and pattern my little boy enjoys...

Words Track Morejumble Jumble

And so I let the joyful jumble be.

Crayola

I'm just loving this Crayola paint range from Craig and Rose.  The shade names are great, who can resist "tickle me pink" and "alphabet soup".  Fab!  Imagine having the job of coming up with paint colour names.  Ooh, comments or posts please on "Could I really be paid to be/do _______".

Wishing you all a colourful weekend.  xx

Mother knows best

I promised myself I wasn't going to blog tonight as I feel I'm getting a bit addicted.  Instead, I had planned a cosy night in front of the telly watching Casablanca which I picked up at a thrift shop today.  Can you believe I've never seen it before?!  I think maybe I'm destined not to as my wee one is going through a bit of an insecure phase and insists that I stay upstairs until he's asleep.  "You go on the puter mummy"   Of course, I oblige!  (Hence the frequent posts).  He thinks I spend all my time on the laptop looking for a new bed for him, bless.

While I'm here I want to thank those of you who have left comments for me - it has been such a thrill for me to read these and you have been so kind with your words.  I have passed on the comments about the doggie to my sister-in-law.  We were looking after her lab for the weekend and I am really missing her this week.  My SIL is such a model dog owner, very responsible and caring about her pet.  This week her dog is being treated by a Reiki practitioner who specialises in animals.  I had no idea they existed!  I will let you know how that goes.

Something I wanted to share with you - a pic of my most recent offering from my son.  He knows his mummy SO well.  No idea what it is (of course I didn't let him know that) but it's glittery with pink and blue feathers - that'll do for me!!  I think he is going to be my crafting buddy although my husband might have something to say about that.

Finally, a little posy of flowers to cheer your evening.  It was a beautiful sunny day here today and I just had to buy some more flowers.  That's my dad and grandad in the photo frame, many a moon ago, launching the boat he made.  He's such a clever person.  He is currently making a rocking horse which my son is expressing quite an interest in!

Off to bed now, speak soon x

A familiar tune

I just had to write a quick post because while I'm pootling away up here I can vaguely hear the radio wafting out a very familiar tune.  I couldn't put my finger on it but it definitely stirred some pleasant but distant memory and then I realised it was the theme tune for Grizzly Adams.  Do you remember it?  Man with big bushy beard lives in mountain cabin in middle of nowhere with his friend the bear.  Oh my gosh, I loved him.  (My first and last infatuation with men with bird-nest beards).  I always cried at the end.  The Littlest Hobo had the same effect on me, as did the scene in the Incredible Hulk where he's sitting at his own graveside, although the tears quickly turned to trembles when the shirt buttons started popping.  Ahh....the 70's!
